I inserted the floppy with the right SATA/RAID driver in the drive. 3. I booted the Server using the original CD of Windows Server (not the on made with nLite) 4. Everything worked somehow. Currently, I have XP Home installed on my Dimension with gb SATA hard drive. I wanted to upgrade to Windows Server. I was going to do a fresh install. The setup for said it cannot see any hard disks. This conversation is currently closed to new comments. You may have to load the driver for your SATA controller. Try to the find the most up-to date driver either from asus or from the chip manufacturer, possibly Intel.
Then put those drivers on a Floppy-disc. Now when you start your installation CD press F6 when you are asked if you want to use foreign controllers. Now insert the Floppy Disk so that the driver can be loaded. Another note, if the Server does not have a floppy drive then you need to create a slipstreamed CD with the drivers and updates included and boot off that Without those drivers setup will not find a HDD in which to copy files to.

General discussion. I have a newly built server tower. When I go through the setup process for Windows Server , it gets to the “Copying files” section and then begins erroring out.
The errors pertain to files being copied are corrupt or the install media is corrupt. I have tried several different installation cd’s one of which was used to setup our existing server. All produce the same results. After reboot I go back into setup only to find the media format is unknown.
